Try Again in August

Well, I tried to get a head start on the trail by heading south out of Caratunk, Maine. We made it out of the village and across route 201 (with loaded log trucks screaming past) safely. Someone had walked their dog to the crossing, and the snow was firm. The crossing did not look promising, with the canoe full of icy water, frozen to the bank. Hopefully it looks more plausible in August!!
